Identity thieves and hackers rely on the fact that many people do not keep their security software up to date and exploit this fact. Recently Microsoft has issued new security patches for discovered vulnerabilities in various Windows programs that millions of people use. The United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team, which is a part of the Department of Homeland Security regularly issues alerts regarding software patches you need to install and recently they issued such an alert for Windows software.
