A familiar scam has recently been turning up in Texas and is expected to spread throughout the country. The scam starts when you get a text message from your bank telling you that your credit card has been deactivated due to security problems, however, the text gives you a phone number to call to reactivate your card. Of course, the text is a scam, but many people are falling for it.
TIP
Banks will not text you to tell you of security problems. Never give personal information to anyone or any telephone number that you have not verified. If you think you may have a security problem with your bank account, call the bank directly at a number you know is correct.
